CASUAL TURBULENCE

5-pocket jeans, T-shirt, Perfecto jacket, tank top, button-up shirt. These and other garments, classic and cliché, were once symbols of rebellious subcultures in the 20th century. Over time they have become unassumingly generic. The meaning of these garments “wore off”; and today they are mainstream. My goal was to infuse them with new radical meaning, and to reinstate them in the extraordinary.
Using digital disruptions, dress mutations or fashionable “variants” were created. Digital software produced an unexpected effect on the most expected garments. The design undermines the garments’ functionality: it disrupts them in order to reveal their essence. The collection aims to distort archetypes of masculinity, playing with an optical illusion of normativity.
